The New England Patriots recently headed down to Richmond, Va., to kick off a week of joint practices with the Washington Redskins on Monday.

The Redskins aren’t exactly a fierce rival of New England, but that didn’t stop a local Arby’s from taking a few not-so-subtle jabs at Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

If Belichick was so inclined to stop by the roast beef purveyor on W. Broad Street in Richmond, he would have come across a rather interesting sign.

As followers of Belichick are well aware, the title bestowed upon him is a reference to his controversial departure from the New York Jets in 2000, when he stepped down after just one day by reportedly scribbling the words, “I resign as HC of the NYJ” on a napkin.

The binoculars on the bottom of the sign, of course, are a jab at Belichick’s involvement in the 2007 “Spygate” controversy, in which his team was accused of videotaping the Jets’ signals during a game.

We’re not sure how any of that applies to the Redskins, but apparently this isn’t the first time Dean Kovanes, the owner of the Arby’s, has had a little fun with parking lot signage. Kovanes reserved a spot for “Redskins great” LaVarr Arrington last July and also erected a sign for quarterback Robert Griffin III in June 2013.

Belichick doesn’t strike us as an Arby’s lover, but if he finds himself craving a roast beef sandwich, we’re guessing he’ll take the drive-thru.
