Rusney Castillo hasn’t played organized baseball in a year and a half, but the Cuban center fielder will have plenty of opportunities to get ready for Major League Baseball with the Boston Red Sox.
The Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox and Double-A Portland Sea Dogs will both be playing in the minor league postseason, so Castillo could have the chance to play for either. He’s also eligible for the Arizona Fall League in October and the Winter Leagues, so he should be in top shape by spring training.
Castillo should also be able to get some time in with Boston in September, but all of that will depend on his work visa situation and how he feels physically.
Check out what The Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham had to say about Castillo in the video above.
