Ryan Mallett Misses Patriots Training Camp Practice For Undisclosed Reason

Patriots Redskins FootballFOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots backup quarterback Ryan Mallett was conspicuously absent from training camp practice on Sunday after a poor performance in Thursday night’s preseason opener against the Washington Redskins.

MallettĀ spent time checking his left knee on Thursday night after sliding on his knee brace. The second-string QB said he was fine after the game.

Linebacker James Anderson, defensive tackles Chris Jones and Sealver Siliga, running back Tyler Gaffney, tight ends D.J. Williams and Michael Hoomanawanui and offensive tackle Chris Martin also were absent from practice.

Safeties Tavon Wilson and Kanorris Davis, linebacker Ja’Gared Davis and center Bryan Stork were wearing jerseys but not in pads. Wide receivers Aaron Dobson and Jeremy Gallon, defensive tackle Dominique Easley and linebacker Cameron Gordon were on the field wearing sweats.

The Patriots had three new tight ends on the practice field. Steve Maneri was wearing No. 86, Terrence Miller was wearing No. 44 and Ben Hartsock was wearing No. 88.

Newly signed rookie linebacker James Morris left the field with a trainer, but he returned to practice.
