The star of NFL training camp and preseason so far has to be Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 draft has hit the ground running — and catching everything in sight during his first taste of the NFL. Watkins has already dazzled on the practice fields with a couple of jaw-dropping one-handed catches, and he added to his highlight reel on Thursday.
During joint practices with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Watkins embarrassed a Pittsburgh cornerback in 1-on-1 drills. The wideout left the corner picking up his jockstrap, as Watkins put on an incredible move to shake the defender.
Whether Watkins can actually do that when the games mean something — and whether quarterback E.J. Manuel can get him the ball on a consistent basis — is obviously still yet to be seen. However, Bills fans must be drooling over Watkins’ potential after this growing assortment of eye-opening plays.
