This Day In Red Sox History: Winter Haven Sox Lose Hitless Game (Video)

The Winter Haven Red Sox minor league team began as an affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, but became affiliated with the Red Sox in the late 1960s. The Winter Haven Sox boasted prospects like catcher Steve Chilcott and outfielder Ken Singleton, and won one Class-A Florida State League championship during their time.

NESN Nation’s Alison Smith has a little more about the team’s history in the video above.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
