West Ham Fan Runs Onto Field To Take Free Kick, Almost Scores (Video)

When fans run onto the field during a sporting event, television cameras avoid pointing at the generally intoxicated (and hopefully clothed) person to discourage others from doing the same.

However, Saturday during an English Premier League game between West Ham and Tottenham, cameras had no choice but to show the spectator because the fan who ran on the field literally took a free kick.

After running across the field, the fan took Christian Eriksen’s free kick and then ran off the field with officials behind him.

Of course, right after the kick we no longer see the man, who is probably replaying the video with a big smile on his face for all of his buddies because he surprisingly got a great shot on target.

In fact, he actually fared better than Eriksen, whose kick didn’t even hit the net and sailed into the stands.

If the fan’s kick did find its way into the back of the net, it would have been interesting to see if the official would have ruled it as a goal or not.

Probably not.

Nonetheless, it’s good to see West Ham goalkeeper Adrian addressing the worst case scenario and making the save. Unfortunately for Adrian and West Ham, Tottenham went on to win the match 1-0.
