A close friend of the Jimmy Fund stopped by the telethon Wednesday afternoon.
Boston Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks, a Jimmy Fund co-captain, discussed his involvement with the great organization. The 25-year-old explained how rewarding it is to meet and hang out with the young patients, adding that he believes like he gets more out of it than they do.
In his second year as co-captain, Middlebrooks was forced to find a replacement for Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who held the other position last season. Middlebrooks added it was an easy decision for him to make after seeing Red Sox catcher David Ross interact with the kids during a visit after the Boston Marathon bombing.
