Pope Francis ISan Lorenzo has had a good year. So has Pope Francis.

San Lorenzo, the Argentinian soccer team Pope Francis has supported since childhood, will cement its bond with the pontiff by naming its new stadium after him.

“The name of the future stadium on La Plata Avenue has been approved. It will be called: Pope Francis,” San Lorenzo announced on Twitter on Wednesday.

San Lorenzo has enjoyed spectacular upturn in results since Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis in March 2013. It won the Torneo Inicial (Argentina’s fall championship) in late 2013. San Lorenzo’s blessings continued in 2014 when it won its first-ever Copa Libertadores — South America’s continental championship — title.

San Lorenzo hopes to inaugurate the new stadium, “Estadio Papa Francisco,” in 2016.
