Boston College Falls To Pittsburgh 30-20 In Rivals’ ACC Football Opener

NCAA Football: Pittsburgh at Boston CollegeTyler Murphy put up a valiant effort in his first conference test at Boston College, but ultimately he and the Eagles couldn’t get the job done, falling to Pittsburgh 30-20 on Friday night at Alumni Stadium.

The senior quarterback, who transferred from Florida, completed 10 of 28 passes for 134 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions in the first Atlantic Coast Conference game between the two former Big East teams. Murphy also ran 16 times for 92 yards, including once for a 2-yard touchdown.

BC grabbed an early 7-3 lead but couldn’t catch up again once it fell behind in the second quarter. Pitt (2-0, 1-0 ACC) pulled away with its run game, as the Panthers outran the Eagles 303 yards to 142. Sophomore James Conner ran for an astounding 214 yards and one TD.

BC (1-1, 0-1) next takes on the University of Southern California on Sept. 13 at Alumni Stadium.
