Brock Holt had some fun in the fifth inning Thursday.

Holt, who homered in the top of the fifth, robbed Jacoby Ellsbury with a sliding, over-the-shoulder catch in the bottom of the frame. Holt’s grab in shallow center field took a hit away from Ellsbury, though the New York Yankees ended up defeating the Boston Red Sox 5-4.

Holt played second base Thursday with Dustin Pedroia still sidelined with a concussion. Pedroia is expected to return Friday when the Red Sox begin a six-game homestand, at which point Holt will return to bouncing around the diamond.

Holt’s fourth home run of the season, which landed just beyond Ichiro Suzuki’s outstretched glove in right field, gave the Red Sox a 4-3 lead. The score held up until Red Sox closer Koji Uehara surrendered home runs to Mark Teixeira and Chase Headley in the bottom of the ninth.
