Chandler Jones, Dont’a Hightower Fined $16,537 For Roughing QB Penalties

Chandler JonesFOXBORO, Mass. — Two New England Patriots defenders will have a lighter wallet this week after being fined for roughing the quarterback penalties in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.

Chandler Jones and Dont’a Hightower each were fined $16,537 for their hits, the NFL announced. Jones was penalized twice for hits to Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s face, and Hightower was flagged for a late hit on Tannehill.

Jones was fined $15,750 last September for roughing New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith with a hit to the neck.

If Jones or Hightower are fined for roughing the passer again this season, it will cost them $33,075.
