Patriots’ Chandler Jones Voted AFC Defensive Player Of Week After Big Game

Chandler Jones, Matt CasselFOXBORO, Mass. — Chandler Jones received some hardware for his dominant performance Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

The New England Patriots pass rusher took home AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording two sacks and blocking a field goal and returning it 58 yards for a touchdown. Jones netted eight tackles in the Patriots’ 30-7 win, and NESN.com marked him down for three quarterback hits and four hurries.

Jones took on more of an inside role against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 and disappeared for stretches of the game. He was allowed to move to the edge Sunday, playing 3-4 outside linebacker and 4-3 defensive end, and flourished.

Jones was named AFC Defensive Player of the Month last November.
