After a gruesome moment involving a fastball to the face, Giancarlo Stanton might be getting some good news.

The Miami Marlins released a statement via Twitter on Friday announcing that the slugger likely will not require surgery on his lacerated face.

The Marlins also said Stanton will return to Miami for further evaluation after being discharged from the hospital Friday.

This certainly is good to hear after a pitch from Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers hit Stanton in the face Thursday night during the fifth inning of the Marlins’ 4-1 loss, forcing the slugger to be hospitalized.

Stanton has produced incredible numbers this season for the Marlins, hitting .287 with 37 home runs and 105 RBIs.

Hopefully, this will be a case where the injury looks much worse than it actually is.
