Jackie Bradley Jr. took to Twitter to defend himself Wednesday.

Bradley, who struggled offensively with the Boston Red Sox this season, was sent back to Triple-A Pawtucket on Aug. 18 to work on his approach. A report that surfaced Wednesday suggested Bradley’s attitude also played into the demotion and the outfielder fired back, making it clear he’s not going to stand for such speculation.

Joon Lee of OverTheMonster.com reported Wednesday that, according to two league sources, there was a growing sense of frustration with Bradley within the Red Sox’s clubhouse due to his perceived “stubbornness with the coaching staff.” Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington denied that being the case before Wednesday’s game against the New York Yankees, telling reporters in the Bronx that Bradley’s demotion was results-driven and not a product of any issues with the 24-year-old’s work ethic.

Bradley hit .216 with a .578 OPS in 112 games with the Red Sox this season. It’s possible he could return to the majors as part of September call-ups, though Red Sox manager John Farrell said Tuesday that Bradley’s development still is a “work in progress.”
