jack elwayJack Elway will avoid jail time after being indicted on charges stemming from an altercation with a girlfriend earlier this year.

Elway, the son of Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, has been sentenced to one year of probation and one year of domestic violence counseling after pleading guilty to a charge of disturbing the peace, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.

TMZ Sports was the first to report news of the plea deal.

In exchange for Elway’s guilty plea, prosecutors dropped an assault charge against the 24-year-old.

Elway was arrested in June after allegedly dragging a woman out of a car by her hair, according to court records. The woman also told Denver police that Elway pushed her to the ground when she tried to stand up.

As part of his sentence, Elway, who previously played quarterback at Arizona State, was fined and prohibited from owning firearms or having contact with the victim.
