When Luis Suarez walked through the doors of Liverpool’s practice facility on Monday, one might have thought he was making an astonishing return to the club with which he spent three-and-a-half seasons.

It is transfer deadline day, after all.

But Suarez wasn’t at Melwood to lace up his cleats and don the red jersey. The Uruguayan dropped by to pick up a few belongings and say a proper goodbye to his old teammates and friends.

Suarez joined Spanish club Barcelona in July (in a £75 million transfer), but he was back home in Uruguay when the transfer was completed.

Suarez was bearing gifts and posed for pictures when he visited on Monday.

Suarez hasn’t played a game for his new team. He should do so when his biting ban expires on Oct. 26.
