NESN's Nikki ReyesNESN, New England’s most watched sports network, announced Thursday that Nikki Reyes (@Nikki_Reyes) has been hired as a feature reporter/anchor.

Reyes will initially appear on “NESN Sports Today” and “NESN Live” with feature stories and reports covering Boston’s professional franchises along with college teams throughout New England. In addition, she will be part of the weekend anchor team on “NESN Sports Today,” the network’s popular sports news program that airs live from 10 p.m. to midnight or immediately following NESN’s postgame coverage.

Reyes comes to NESN with over 15 years of experience reporting, producing and writing for sports and entertainment media. The Toronto native has been based out of Las Vegas since 2010 working as a reporter and senior producer for Top Rank Boxing, the country’s premiere boxing promotional company. She also worked as a correspondent for The Fight Network covering MMA events and served as a field producer for EXTRA and NBC Universal.

Before moving to Las Vegas, Reyes worked as on-air host and associate producer for NBA XL on NBA-TV Canada and as an anchor/reporter for Score In The Morning, a five-hour live show airing nationally in Canada.

“Nikki has an engaging personality and unique broadcasting background that includes sports and entertainment reporting on national programs, plus experience field producing stories,” said Joseph Maar, NESN’s Vice President of Programming and Production/Executive Producer. “This versatility along with her charm and sense of humor make Nikki a great fit for fans who want fun and engaging coverage of our teams and the Boston sports scene.”

Reyes fills the “NESN Sports Today” feature reporter/anchor role previously held by Gary Striewski, who is now NESN’s primary Red Sox sideline reporter. A search is currently underway to replace NESN Sports Today anchor/reporter Leah Hextall, who left NESN last month to become a primary NHL studio host with Rogers Sportsnet in Canada.
