New England Patriot's NFL team practice with the Washington Redskins in Richmond, Va.FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots starting quarterback Tom Brady was conspicuously absent from practice Thursday.

Brady was the lone Patriots player missing from the start of practice, as New England prepares for its Week 1 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. Newly re-signed linebacker Chris White, long snapper Danny Aiken and practice-squad quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson were present for the session.

Brady was not listed on the injury report after Wednesday’s practice.

Defensive end Michael Buchanan (ankle), defensive tackles Chris Jones (ankle) and Sealver Siliga (hand), and tight end Rob Gronkowski (knee) were listed on the Patriots’ injury report Wednesday as limited. All four players participated in stretching with the rest of the team Thursday.

UPDATE (4:50 p.m.): Brady missed practice because of a calf injury, the Patriots announced later Thursday. They didn’t address Brady’s status for the season opener, although that will be revealed in Friday’s injury report.
