Red Sox-Yankees Live: Derek Jeter Ends Amazing Career At Fenway Park

Derek JeterDerek Jeter will don his New York Yankees road uniform one more time.

Jeter’s amazing 20-year ride with the Yankees will end Sunday as the club finishes its season against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Jeter will be honored by the Red Sox in a pregame ceremony and then bat second while serving as New York’s designated hitter.

It’s amazing to think Jeter — a 14-time All-Star, five-time World Series champion and, quite frankly, the face of Major League Baseball — is calling it quits. It seems like yesterday the shortstop was breaking into the majors and helping the Yankees build a dynasty.

While Jeter played for the Red Sox’s most bitter rival, Boston and its fans obviously have a ton of respect for No. 2. Few players have played the game with as much class, professionalism and integrity. He’ll certainly be missed, though Cooperstown surely awaits his arrival.

Sunday’s first pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET, but fans at Fenway have been asked to be in their seats by 1 p.m. for Jeter’s pregame gift ceremony. It should be an emotional afternoon in Boston.
