NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at Washington RedskinsWashington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III received some optimistic news Monday.

An MRI revealed no fracture in his dislocated ankle, according to ESPN’s Washington Redskins reporter Josh Keim. Although Griffin is still waiting to see the full results from the team doctor, he reportedly called the news “positive,” and surgery is not expected.

Coach Jay Gruden told media Monday afternoon at his news conference there is no exact timeline for RG3. Gruden said the quarterback will remain in a cast and be re-evaluated in a few weeks, but he remained optimistic that he could return this season.

Griffin was carted off the field during Sunday’s 41-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars just five minutes into the game, when he landed awkwardly after scrambling to the right and firing off a pass on the run.
