A lot of people are sick of Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston’s antics, and Sam Ponder is one of them.

Winston received a full-game suspension Friday for standing on a table in a public space and yelling an obscene phrase made popular by an Internet video, which is derogatory toward women. It wasn’t the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner’s first transgression either, as he was accused of sexual assault in 2012 and was issued a misdemeanor citation for shoplifting from a supermarket in April.

As the lone female reporter on ESPN’s “College Gameday,” as well as the wife of former FSU quarterback Christian Ponder, Sam Ponder had a chance to give an interesting take on Winston’s latest suspension. And boy, did she deliver.

“There’s a ton of responsibility, but here’s what I’m not buying. I’m not buying that the expectations are too high.” Ponder said. “Here’s what we’re asking from him: We’re asking you don’t lie, you don’t cheat, you don’t steal and you don’t disrespect women.”

“And I know people want to say, ‘Oh he’s naive, and there’s some immaturity there.’ I just think we’re not giving him enough credit. He knows right from wrong. He understands that the things he’s done are wrong, but he continues to make those same mistakes.”

Ponder was especially tough on Winston for making the comments while having a sexual assault accusation on his behavior record.

“If you are even accused of what he was accused of — let’s assume he didn’t do it,” Ponder said. “Even if you’re just accused, how can you think it would ever be appropriate to publicly speak in such an obscene and vulgar way about women? You just can’t do it. And I have a feeling Jameis knows that.”
