Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon is known for bringing some levity to the grueling, 162-game Major League Baseball schedule by incorporating themed road trips for his players.

The Rays most likely are not going anywhere this postseason, so Maddon’s themed trips are a great way for the team to bond and develop chemistry.

With roster expansion coming into play this month, the Rays held a “rookie night” for their first-year players before the team’s flight to Toronto where the young guns were asked to wear outrageous costumes.

The Rays rookies did not disappoint.

Kevin Kiermaier easily wins with his amazing Luigi costume.

Considering the players crossed the international border, it would’ve been interesting to see the looks on the faces of the folks over at customs when they arrived.
