Ben AffleckThe rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees has been rather dormant in recent years.

That was, until Ben Affleck did his best to reignite it.

The New York Times reported that the actor, who is a diehard Red Sox fan, refused to wear a Yankees hat during the filming of his new movie “Gone Girl.”

At one point in the film, Affleck’s character wears a baseball cap to avoid being recognized. Director David Fincher believed a Yankees hat would be best, but it led to a feud with Affleck.

“I said, ‘David, I love you, I would do anything for you,'” Affleck said. “‘But I will not wear a Yankees hat. I just can’t. I can’t wear it because it’s going to become a thing, David. I will never hear the end of it. I can’t do it.’ And I couldn’t put it on my head.”

The two finally agreed on having Affleck wear a New York Mets hat in the scene.
