Berkshire Bank Faceoff: Bruins Take On Jarome Iginla, Avalanche At TD Garden

Jarome IginlaBOSTON — The Bruins will welcome a former teammate to TD Garden on Monday afternoon when they take on Jarome Iginla and the Colorado Avalanche.

Iginla played in Boston during the 2013-14 campaign and tied Patrice Bergeron for the team lead in goals scored with 30. He left in the summer to join the Colorado Avalanche as an unrestricted free agent, leaving a hole on the Bruins first line at right wing that still hasn’t been properly filled.

Through two games, Iginla hasn’t been able to make much of an impact offensively for the Avs. Although, to be fair, no one on the Colorado roster has scored a goal this season. The Avalanche are 0-2-0 and have been outscored 7-0 in two losses to the Minnesota Wild — the team that knocked Colorado out of the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs in a seven-game first-round series.

The Bruins have not formally announced their lineup for Monday afternoon’s matchup, but don’t be surprised if first-line center David Krejci returns from injury. B’s head coach Claude Julien hoped Krejci would be able to come back when he spoke after Sunday’s practice. Krejci has missed the first three regular-season games with an undisclosed injury.

Check out the NESN.com Bruins-Avalanche live blog for the latest information on Krejci’s status for Monday’s matinee.
