jeff greenMonday was a busy day on the injury front for the Boston Celtics.

Head coach Brad Stevens offered updates on a number of the team’s hobbled players as the Celtics prepare for their fifth preseason game Wednesday night.

Let’s dive in:

— Jeff Green, who has yet to suit up for a preseason game as he recovers from a calf injury, returned to practice Monday. The forward’s status for Wednesday’s matchup with the Toronto Raptors has yet to be determined, per Stevens.

Stevens also added that when Green does return, he will split time between small forward and power forward in order to free up minutes for Evan Turner, who’s impressed thus far in Green’s absence. Stevens said, via Celtics.com, that Green will play “half or more than half” of his minutes at the three, his usual position.

— Vitor Faverani also has yet to see action this preseason, and he won’t be doing so anytime soon. The second-year center underwent knee surgery Monday in Spain and is expected to miss the next six to eight weeks.

The Celtics are considering waiving Faverani, according to a report Monday from Sportnado.

— Stevens said rookie James Young is “progressing well” in his recovery from a hamstring injury (via MassLive.com’s Jay King) but likely won’t return for at least another week. Young played in the Celtics’ preseason opener last Monday but has been sidelined since.

— Gerald Wallace will miss the next two games with a bone bruise, Stevens said, via Scott Souza of the MetroWest Daily News. Wallace did not dress for Saturday’s loss to the New York Knicks, but the team did not announce at the time that his absence was injury-related.
