The Washington Redskins’ quarterback led his team to a comeback win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. His name was not Kirk Cousins.

Confused? Don’t worry — this reporter was, too.

As the man at the podium kindly acknowledges, he is not in fact Cousins, but backup quarterback Colt McCoy. The former Texas Longhorns star took over for Cousins in the second half and connected with wide receiver Pierre Garcon on his very first pass attempt for a 70-yard touchdown.

Washington went on to win 19-17, with McCoy completing 11 of 12 passes for 128 yards and one score, while Cousins connected on just 10 of 16 throws for 139 yards with an interception. With numbers like that, McCoy makes a very good case for winning the starting job in Week 8.

It’d be hard to forget his name then.
