It pays to be nice to athletes on Twitter.

It might be getting crowded on the Kansas City Royals’ bandwagon as they continue their Cinderella run, but rookie reliever Brandon Finnegan recently showed why it’s pretty easy to root for this ballclub. The left-hander made a Royals fan the happiest guy in the world when he responded to his request for some playoff tickets back on Oct. 10.

The two had a pleasant back-and-forth that eventually led to Finnegan offering him two tickets to Game 4 of the ALCS on Tuesday. Unfortunately the fan and his girlfriend will have to wait one more day, though, as Monday’s matchup against the Baltimore Orioles was rained out and rescheduled for Tuesday night, moving Game 4 to Wednesday afternoon.

But that wasn’t all. Finnegan made the deal even sweeter when he accepted the fan’s proposal to grab some BBQ with him in the near future.

Finnegan, a first-round draft pick out of TCU who also pitched in the College World Series this past June for the Horned Frogs, has made five appearances out of Kansas City’s bullpen this postseason. But he also can add being a pretty good dude to his impressive résumé.
