NFL defenses have come up with some pretty creative ways to distract quarterbacks before the snap. But Jameel McClain just set the standard.

As Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo prepared to run a play against the New York Giants on Sunday, he walked toward the line of scrimmage and identified McClain as the “mike” linebacker, a common practice used to help the offense identify defensive formations.

What McClain did in response was nothing short of awesome.

Of course, it’s possible that McClain actually wasn’t the mike and was just trying to help Romo out. Or maybe he was the mike. Or maybe that’s just what he wants you to think.

Either way, it was a fantastic troll job from McClain, so good that you can make out someone — possibly Romo — shout “stop yelling” in response to the Giants linebacker’s antics.

It seems that Romo got over it, though, as his three touchdown passes led Dallas to a 31-21 victory.
