The New York Jets started Sunday’s game in the vaunted “LOL” defense.

The Jets, already saddled with the daunting task of facing Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, decided to take the game’s first play off — at least that’s the way it looked.

It didn’t take long for the Broncos’ high-powered offense to get going at the Meadowlands, as Manning found wide receiver Demaryius Thomas on the first play from scrimmage. Actually, if Manning hadn’t seen Thomas, it probably would have been time to get his eyes check out. The Jets left Thomas — coming off a 226-yard performance last week — all alone in the middle of the field.

That’s not very effective.

The Jets actually did a nice job of responding, though. Despite the 54-yard gain, the New York defense held up and limited Denver to a field goal.
