Lane KiffinLike most mothers, Robin Kiffin probably freaks out when her son gets involved in a situation that could be even slightly dangerous.

Lane Kiffin’s return to Tennessee is one of those situations.

The concerned mother told TMZ Sports that she’s “praying for a guardian angel” when Kiffin’s Alabama Crimson Tide travel to take on Tennessee on Saturday.

Kiffin, of course, is not the most popular person in the Volunteer State after he ditched his job at the University of Tennessee back in 2009 to take the head coaching gig at USC. Fans expressed discontent (to put it softly) and even hung him in effigy.

This obviously has sent Mama Kiffin into a worried state as she fears for the safety of her son.

“This is stressful,” Robin said. “I’ve heard such horror stories … people throwing batteries.”

Unfortunately for Lane and his frantic mother, the University of Tennessee is not planning any type of special protection for the coach.
