Lululemon didn’t make any friends with Buffalo sports fans Wednesday.

The high-end yoga retailer revealed a floor mosaic in their new Buffalo, N.Y., store that combined two of the darkest moments in the city’s sports history.

“Wide right” and “No goal” are two phrases that are essentially punches to the guts of all Bills and Sabres fans. The former refers to the Bills’ heartbreaking Super Bowl loss in 1991, as Scott Norwood’s potential game-winning field goal kick missed by about a foot to the right of the goal post. The latter, meanwhile, drudges up painful memories of the Dallas Stars’ triple-overtime win over the Sabres on a controversial Brett Hull goal.

Interesting marketing method there.

Not surprisingly, Buffalo fans weren’t crazy about the sign, and they took to Twitter to let the store know just how outraged they were. Lululemon attempted to explain their reasoning for the mosaic, and although their intentions were good, they missed the mark — by a lot.

The store has since covered up the design with a rug and has plans to replace it with something else amid the harsh criticism, according to The Buffalo News.
