Stevan RidleyFOXBORO, Mass. — Severe knee injuries will keep New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley and linebacker Jerod Mayo out of Thursday night’s game against the New York Jets.

The Patriots already ruled out the two starters on Monday’s projected practice participation and injury report. The Patriots didn’t practice Monday, but they still had to release a practice report, according to league rules.

Mayo injured his knee on Sunday night in the Patriots’ 37-22 win over the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Mayo suffered the injury while tackling Bills running back Anthony Dixon with 7:40 left in the second quarter. Mayo had to be carted off the field.

Ridley was injured with 4:05 left in the third quarter on a 2-yard loss when his knee was hit by Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Ridley had to be helped off the field, and he later limped to the locker room.
