Outfielder Corey Brown and infielder Ryan Roberts have opted for free agency, Major League Baseball informed Baseball America. Both players spent the bulk of the 2014 season with Triple-A Pawtucket.

Brown, who signed with the Red Sox in February, appeared in three games with Boston and struck out in his only at-bat. The 28-year-old hit .231 with 17 homers, 42 RBIs, six stolen bases and a .294 on-base percentage in 91 games with Pawtucket.

Roberts signed with the Red Sox in April and even participated in an introductory press conference during Boston’s first homestand of the season. The 34-year-old appeared in eight games with the Red Sox — all at third base — and 72 games with the PawSox. Roberts hit .277 with seven homers, 32 RBIs and a .337 on-base percentage at Triple-A.

In other Red Sox news, Keith Couch, Aaron Kurcz, Madison Younginer, Robby Scott, Sean Coyle, Deven Marrero and Rusney Castillo were assigned to the Arizona Fall League.
