Rick Nash had himself a busy little Sunday night.

The New York Rangers winger scored a gorgeous goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first period — his fourth of the young season — but his night really picked up after the second.

Nash rushed off from Madison Square Garden before the third period got underway to be with his wife who had just gone into labor.

Tough to beat that excuse.

According to Rangers coach Alain Vigneault, it was uncertain if Nash would even play in Sunday’s game at all, as his wife’s water broke before the game. Or something along those lines.

Unfortunately Nash’s highlight-reel tally wasn’t enough for the Rangers, who fell 6-3 to the Maple Leafs. But all in all, it was a pretty spectacular night for the Nash clan, as they welcomed a baby boy, the New York Post reported Monday.
