San Francisco Radio Stations Not Playing Lorde’s ‘Royals’ During World Series

LordeSan Francisco fans of pop singer Lorde will be out of luck for the next couple of weeks.

The Giants and Kansas City Royals will start the World Series on Tuesday, which means the appetite for anything Kansas City- or Royals-related in San Francisco is at an all-time low. That apparently includes Lorde’s big-time hit “Royals.”

The song — which the singer admitted was inspired by a photo of Royals Hall of Famer George Brett — won’t be played on some San Francisco radio stations during the Fall Classic, according to KMBC.com. KFOG and KOIT are two stations who are pulling the song for the time being.

It’s unclear when the song will return to the air, but maybe a win by Kansas City means the song will be gone for good.
