Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos might as well go home. Bill Belichick busted out the gray hoodie.
It was a cold Sunday at Gillette Stadium for the New England Patriots’ AFC showdown with the Broncos, so the ever-stylish Belichick decided to go with the old reliable hooded sweatshirt.

In this case, the emphasis is on “reliable.” Mike Dussault of Bleacher Report has kept a handy database of the Patriots’ record based on Belichick’s wardrobe choice. When the head coach opts for a gray hoodie, New England is 57-13, dating from 2003 until the end of the 2013 season. That’s pretty darn good.
To make things even better, Belichick decided to eschew the cut-off sleeve look and wear the full sweatshirt. He has lost just twice in 20 games with that get-up.
We realize, of course, that this information is completely irrelevant and has no bearing on the outcome of Sunday’s game. That being said, the Patriots took a 27-7 lead into halftime over the favored Broncos. So yeah, it’s gotta be the hoodie.
UPDATE (6 p.m.) —Â It appears the Hooded One pulled a fast one on us. After rocking the gray hoodie in warmups, Belichick swapped it out for a sharp new blue hoodie for kickoff.
But don’t fear, Patriots fans. Belichick has worn his blue threads in six of New England’s eight games this year, and the Patriots won five of them.
