The Boston Bruins announced Sunday afternoon that head coach Claude Julien will be in Boston for a long time after signing a multi-year contract extension.
Julien is the longest-tenured coach in Bruins history and has been behind the bench for eight seasons, a fact that NESN’s Billy Jaffe points out is key to the team’s recent success.
“Coaching is something often times that people might overlook or underestimate the importance of,” Jaffe said. “The fact that he brings a certain style and a certain way about him and he’s had a lot of success with a Bruins, this (contract) is something I definitely expected to happen.”
The B’s have made the postseason every season under Julien, posting a .632 regular-season winning percentage and winning a Stanley Cup in 2011.
“Locking up a guy that you trust, that you know, that you respect really helps stabilizes things for your organization,” Jaffe added.
