Brooklyn Nets Call One Of Their Fans A ‘Nerd’ After Scrabble Tweet

The Brooklyn Nets apparently aren’t buying into that whole “nerds are cool” thing.

When a fan tweeted about missing Monday’s Brooklyn Nets game because of Scrabble Club, the team’s official Twitter account responded by calling him a nerd, courtesy of Austin Powers.

It’s never a great idea to make fun of your own fans, but that’s especially true when the Nets have dropped three in a row and could use all the help they can get.

The Nets eventually worked things out with the Scrabble enthusiast, telling him “All in good fun…we still love you. Good luck tonight!” — after he played around with the idea of changing his fan loyalty to the New York Knicks, that is.
