David Pastrnak is off to an excellent start in his pro career.

The 18-year-old right winger, who was selected 25th overall by the Boston Bruins in the first round of the 2014 NHL draft, has been named the American Hockey League’s Rookie of the Month for October. He’s actually the youngest player in the AHL.

Pastrnak tallied nine points (two goals, seven assists) in seven games for the Providence Bruins. Including November, Pastrnak has posted 10 points (three goals, seven assists), the most among rookies. He also leads Providence in scoring, two points ahead of forward Alexander Khokhlachev.

Pastrnak’s scoring has helped the P-Bruins sit atop the Atlantic Division standings with a 6-2-1 record (13 points).

The Czech forward was expected to see some game action with the Bruins before a shoulder injury suffered early in training camp forced him to miss most of the team’s preseason games. It’s still possible for Pastrnak to make his NHL debut at some point during the regular season.
