A sleepy Terry Francona awoke to a surprise during a recent flight to Okinawa, Japan.
A team of major leaguers wrapped up their 2014 Japan All-Star Series on Thursday morning. It’s never too late for team bonding, though, and Los Angeles Angels pitcher Hector Santiago accepted a unique dare en route to the team’s final game.
Someone — for reasons unknown — dared Santiago to kiss Francona on the head as the Cleveland Indians manager napped. Sure enough, Santiago planted a smooch right on Francona, who served as one of the MLB All-Stars’ assistant coaches during the trip through Japan.
Fortunately, there’s video evidence.
