We’ve known for some time that Koke is one of European soccer’s top passers, but we found out Tuesday how good of a finisher he is.

Koke’s scored a spectacular goal to help Atletico Madrid earn a 2-0 win over Malmo in the UEFA Champions League.

The game was tied in the 30th minute when Atletico Madrid fullback Juanfran sent a cross into Malmo’s goal-mouth. Koke, 22, darted into the ball’s path, jumped and perfectly connected with a flying back-heel volley, which beat goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

After the game, Koke described the thing of beauty that was his goal.

“(My goal) was a beautiful move,” Koke said, according to UEFA.com. “We broke away on the counterattack. We know that Juanfran likes to bomb forward, he’s nearly a winger, although his position is fullback. I know that well, and I know where to position myself and just had to put my foot in the right position to score.”

The goal was Koke’s second in this season’s Champions League.
