Jon LesterMajor League Baseball free agency can get pretty wild.

There’s no telling what’s going to happen when top players hit the open market. The 2015 offseason should be especially interesting because there are several players available who could significantly alter a franchise’s fortunes.

The MLB general managers meetings are taking place this week in Phoenix. It’s an opportunity for GMs to meet with each other and agents in an effort to lay groundwork for future deals. In some cases, the deals can be agreed to on the spot, though many agents opt for a more methodical approach to negotiations. After all, markets still are developing.

This year’s free-agent class features several top-flight starters, a few impactful third basemen and even a Cuban defector whose agent recently said possesses rare power. Moves made in free agency this winter could play a major role in determining which teams contend in 2015 and beyond.

Where will everyone land? Who knows, really? But let’s at least take a stab at predicting where the top 10 free agents will wind up when the dust settles.
