Phil Kessel Tells Reporters To ‘Get Away From Me’ After 6-2 Loss To Sabres

Phil Kessel’s relationship with the media can be described as prickly at best, and he proved that again Saturday night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs star forward stole headlines following his team’s embarrassing 6-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres after he refused to talk to the media. According to reports, Kessel not only refused to talk but gave some lip to reporters, too.

It’s not like Kessel had a horrible game. He scored his 11th goal of the season and had five shots on goal in the losing effort. Kessel, however, was a minus-2 on the night.

The Leafs have struggled to find any sort of consistency this season. They recently had a three-game winning streak capped by a blowout win over the Boston Bruins, but they’ve now lost two in a row with Saturday’s loss to the lowly Sabres and a 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday comprising that skid.
