Steve Spurrier Wants His Team To Be Like Taylor Swift And ‘Shake It Off’

Steve SpurrierNo one knows better than Steve Spurrier that the haters gonna hate, hate, hate.

The ol’ ball coach has plenty in his brain right now, as his South Carolina Gamecocks are just 4-5 and coming off a home loss to Tennessee.

Despite those issues, though, Spurrier wants his team to keep cruising and buy into the notion that they can’t stop, won’t stop moving — with a little help from Taylor Swift.

“I was telling our coaching staff, I think Taylor Swift’s got a song called ‘Shake it Off.’ That’s what we’re trying to do, shake it off and get ready for the Florida Gators next week,” Spurrier told reporters, according to The State. “That’s what we’re going to try to do, see if we can regroup and try to win a close game. You know we’ve had our share of close ones, though we’ve struggled on defense and so forth.”

One area in which Spurrier and the Gamecocks might want to be on alert? Special teams. Florida used a fake field goal to score a touchdown in its win over then-No. 9 Georgia last week, and you know what they say: the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake.
