Childish behavior doesn’t fly with Tulane football coach Curtis Johnson.

After right tackle Sean Donnelly and defensive tackle Tanzel Smart threw some punches at one another during practice Wednesday, Johnson made them circle the field while holding hands.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune’s Tammy Nunez reported that the duo had to walk together until they were needed on the field again, which ended up being about 20 minutes.

Johnson offered an awesome explanation for his unique punishment, too.

“Yeah, we had a little bit of an altercation and they kind of wasted some of my practice time, so I took a different approach in disciplining them,” Johnson told The Times-Picayune. “If they want to act like kindergarten kids, then I just want to treat them like kindergarten kids.”

Johnson also said he’s never made his players hold hands before, but he took a page out of his parenting handbook, as the method always worked on his daughters.
