BOSTON — The Bruins will have a few players in different roles when they play the Detroit Red Wings at TD Garden on Monday night.
Injuries to Patrice Bergeron and Milan Lucic (both undisclosed) could result in Bruins head coach Claude Julien mixing up three of his four forward lines. The Chris Kelly-Carl Soderberg-Loui Eriksson trio remained intact during the Monday’s morning skate. However, the top two lines and the fourth line should look different when the puck drops.
Matt Fraser was claimed off of waivers by the Edmonton Oilers, which forced the Bruins to recall winger Matt Lindblad from Providence on an emergency basis. He is expected to play alongside Craig Cunningham and Seth Griffith on the fourth line.
Normal fourth-line forwards Daniel Paille, Gregory Campbell and Jordan Caron likely will be the third line. Brad Marchand and Reilly Smith should start alongside veteran center David Krejci on the top line. Krejci hasn’t played more than 15 even-strength minutes with either winger this season.
Tuukka Rask was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, which usually indicates he will start. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner replaced backup Niklas Svedberg in Saturday’s 6-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Rask’s last start was a 5-3 win over the Nashville Predators on Dec. 23, during which he made 22 saves on 25 shots.
