DeMarcus Cousins was in no mood to wish Marcus Smart a Happy New Year on Wednesday.
With the Sacramento Kings down 21 points to the Boston Celtics in the fourth quarter, Cousins did not take kindly to a box out by the Celtics rookie guard. When Smart attempted to put a body on the 6-foot-11, 270-pound center, Cousins tossed him aside like a rag doll.
Cousins and Smart were each issued a technical foul, although it was unclear what Smart did to warrant the tech. If anything, Smart showed enormous restraint not to retaliate. The Celtics praised Cousins’ maturity earlier this week, but apparently that maturity took a play off.
Cousins was ejected, as he also received a technical in the first half.
