FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots defensive tackle Dominique Easley’s season is over.

The Patriots placed their 2014 first-round draft pick on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday. Tight end Steve Maneri took his place on the 53-man roster.

Practice-squad offensive lineman Caylin Hauptmann wasn’t present for Wednesday’s Patriots practice. The Patriots signed quarterback Garrett Gilbert to take an open place on the practice squad left when defensive tackle Casey Walker signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

Maneri and Gilbert practiced for the Patriots. Maneri was wearing No. 86 and Gilbert was sporting No. 8.

Easley finishes his rookie season with 10 tackles, a sack and an interception. He dealt with shoulder and knee injuries this season after tearing his ACL last September with the Florida Gators.
