Evan Turner: John Wall Got ‘Christmas Early’ With ‘Garbage’ Foul Call

Evan Turner won’t quibble with the first nine points John Wall scored in double overtime Monday night. But he was steaming mad over the 10th.

Wall’sĀ final point, the eventual game-winner in the Washington Wizards’ wild, 133-132 win over the Boston Celtics, came on a free throw with 44 seconds remaining.

The officials ruled that Turner had fouled Wall as the Wizards point guard split two defenders for the go-ahead layup.Ā Turner vehemently disagreed.

“He made a good play going to the rack and he got the bucket, but the and-one was garbage,ā€ TurnerĀ said after the game, via The Boston Globe. ā€œThat was a horrible call, and it went like that the whole game.

“John stepped up and hit some big, big, big, big, big shots, but right there he got the bucket and did his thing to tie the game, but it was Christmas early.”

Wall, who finished with 26 points, seven rebounds and a career-high 17 assists, did hit some huge shots down the stretch for Washington, but judging by the replay, Turner’s gripe looks justified.

Still, it’s never a great look to complain about officiating, especially whenĀ TurnerĀ already has done so once in his brief Celtics tenure.
