Johnny Manziel denied being Johnny Party over the weekend.

Reports emerged Sunday claiming the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback threw a huge party Friday night that was attended by many members of the team and led to some players being late for Saturday morning’s walk-through. Manziel, who was on injured reserve, was late for treatment on his hamstring, but he was adamant that the reason for his tardiness wasn’t because of late-night partying.

Manziel said the reports of him throwing a party in Cleveland were “100 percent false,” during a press conference Monday, but he did admit to going out with a few friends who were in town from his hometown of Kerrville, Texas.

The rookie added that he’ll have to prove he’s capable of being the quarterback of the future and that he must take more responsibility for his actions. This comes on the heels of Browns owner Jimmy Haslam calling out the young players, telling them he won’t tolerate “irresponsible players.”

“It’s about action,” Manziel said Monday, per ESPN.com. “It’s about being accountable and doing what I’m gonna say instead of looking like a jackass.”

Manziel also apologized to the team, especially the veteran players, for the distractions he’s brought into the locker room in his first year in the league.

“Either I’m going to learn or I’m going to be finding something else to do,” Manziel said.
